You didn’t think Nikki B would settle for zero face time with Blue Scholars, did you? Thank you Caffe Vita and KEXP for the Bean Room shows! Not only was it an intimate Blue Scholars show aired live on Street Sounds with Larry Mizell Jr., but Blue Scholars also played a four new songs off their new album Cinemetropolis due out in early 2011. Sabzi got a little buck and nearly fell off a speaker, but that didn’t stop his flow.

After their planned set was over, they toyed with the idea of  playing another one. They tossed around ideas for which song to play. I took this opportunity to shout, “HI-808! HI-808!” Geo then looked to the audience and said, “Yeah… what do you want to hear?” “asdkfsdlkvadlfkmaslkdjgaoiuonelkoiscjoivglkwnelknlk-808-808-askdjfhdjkshfakwjhiauwehiu” was about the sound of what come out of the crowd. Sabzi then said, “Okay, on the count of three, you tell me which song you want to hear. One … two … –”
“asldkfjaovaoitjiowejufoidjsfvokamwrlkfjfosij-808!!! HI-808!!! asoifauowijaf qojdiwjvoaifjvoisjfglkajgaisfdj !!!”
The homies played “Hi-808″!!! If my block party wasn’t euphoric at this point being able to jam out to a private “Hi-808″ when only an hour before I couldn’t even see them took me all the way to cloud 9. Sabzi took the buckness level up a notch by walking out into the audience, going back and forth standing on the two front row benches, and lifting up he shirt to show some skin. Intimate shows like that are once in a lifetime.
