Seattle hip-hop superstars Blue Scholars have released a brand new track entitled “Summertime in the SEA” and SSG has it for you!
From their website: “Dove Shack’s “Summertime in the LBC” is anthemic seasonal perfection. If it hasn’t found its way onto your summer playlist, then you’re losing and you don’t even know it. Bumping that track has become a yearly tradition for us rap-loving Northwestcoasters who only see glimpses of So-Cal like weather for just a few weeks out of the year. For me, its become synonymous with backyard BBQs, rolling to Alki, and mobbing deep to festivals like Bon Odori and Pista Sa Nayon.”
Geo goes on, “So here it is. Our tribute to summer in Seattle, and an homage to what I believe to be the finest summertime song of my generation. From my birthplace (LBC) to my nowplace (Seattle), to anywhere people of the sun gather to celebrate its presence.”
“Summertime in the SEA” is very appropriate given the heatwave Seattle has experienced in the past weeks. it’s about time Seattle had it’s own jam for when the sun comes out. Like The Fresh Prince’s “Summertime” or Ice Cube’s “Today Was a Good Day,” this song has a laid back, R&B feel. Perfect for taking advantage of every minute of sun that the 206 delivers in short supply every year.
Hurry! Download this song, put it on your iPod, and go outside and enjoy the sun!!!

For the record, when I first this song, I thought it was a test. I bet you anything that Geo and Saba are just waiting to see everyone hop on board with this ridiculous song. GEO, I’m passing your test and telling you this song is complete garbage. I’m still a die-hard, and I’ll see you this Sunday.
