The Lights @ High Dive | 07/30 | 9:30PM |$7

The much-anticipated MTV $5 Cover Seattle series will be launching soon, and among the handful of local bands showcased on this musical series is rock band The Lights. This band doesn’t hold back in their crashing, guitar-driven garage rock that would undoubtedly cause an overflow of noise complaints if they actually played in a garage. The Lights, who shouldn’t be confused with pop singer LIGHTS, which is what you get if you try to Google them, consist of guitarist Craig Chambers, drummer P.J. Rogalski, and bassist Jeff Albertson. Though the trio recently put out their third record, Failed Graves, they’ve actually been playing together for over a decade, and have brewed a lush sound that is at times harsh and aggressive, while at the same time speckled with charming pop vibes. Your next chance to see The Lights is this Friday at the High Dive, where blues rock band Whalebones and popsters The Young Evils will also be playing.
