The Newton Girls, Grand Hallway @ The Crocodile | 5/26 | 9 p.m. | $12 | 21+

Opening for mysterious new band The Newton Girls (fronted by Ron Joderick…cough cough), is Seattle’s own Grand Hallway. The huge band is fronted by Tomo Nakayama, a man with songwriting talent far beyond his years. Grand Hallway’s beautiful chamber-pop songs are both delicate and powerful, and with no shortage of instruments and talented musicians (including Shenandoah Davis), this set is sure to awe.

Tiny Vipers, Svarte Greiner @ The Triple Door | 5/26 | 7:30 p.m. | $10 | All Ages

Seattle’s Tiny Vipers (Jesy Fortino) has been winning my heart for years with her beautiful, haunting sound. On the surface, Tiny Vipers is very simple music—the instrumentation is relatively minimalist, and her voice solid, but slightly hushed. Despite its simplicity, Fortino’s music is completely spellbinding, her performance gluing you to your seat for the entire set. She’s often known to improvise, especially between songs, making each concert experience completely unique.
