Greenriver Thrillers & Public Perverts @ Comet | 5/4 | 8PM | $5 | 21+

Public Perverts
The Comet tonight has three local heavy metal bands. Formed one year after the capture of Gary Ridgway, The Greenriver Thrillers released their self-titled album in March 2009. They describe their sound as “Underground Shat Rock” and “A troll stumbling down an alley.” The four songs on their myspace are all equally hard, and help set the tone for a very metal Tuesday night. Public Perverts is another band on the bill; they are not quite as hard. Their sound is much more punk. Apparently they have a lead singer (as evidenced by this video), but none of their tracks on their website have any vocals at all.
Gravity @ High Dive | 5/4 | 8PM | $7 | 21+

Gravity
If you want something exactly the opposite of what’s at the Comet tonight, then go to Fremont. High Dive is having jazz keyboard trio Gravity and singer Eddie Sanabria. The two groups recently put out an EP together. Eddie Sanabria’s voice is a smooth, R&B style. Combined with Gravity’s very danceable jazz, it should make for a buttery smooth night. I am a bigger fan of Gravity’s high energy jazz than Sanabria, whose voice tends to lull me to sleep. Gravity recently finished touring in California, and they are also working on some new material. I doubt the High Dive will be packed tonight, so it may be a great time to get with some friends after dinner to have a quiet evening.
