Sleepy Eyes Of Death, Sleepy Sun, WIldildlife @ Chop Suey | 7/6 | 8 p.m. | $10 | 21+

Regular readers may have noticed that we at SSG are pretty big fans of local boys Sleepy Eyes of Death. Their intense, electronic brand of post-rock mixed with a sweet light show always makes for a great evening. Don’t forget your earplugs, SEOD shows have been known to get very, very loud.
Opening for SEOD is San Francisco-based band Sleepy Sun. Their fuzzy, acid-rock sound channels their Santa Cruz roots, while the heavy drums and heavy riffs speak to a more 70’s era hard rock influence.
Here’s Sleepy Eyes of Death playing “Datagrave”, a track from their new album “Toward a Damaged Horizon”:
The Wailers, Kore Ionz, DJ Element @ Neumos | 7/6 | 8 p.m. | $20 | 21+

Most famous for their work with reggae legend Bob Marley, Jamaica’s The Wailers have been playing together for about 40 years. The band has released 7 albums since Marley’s death, and has continued to tour and record with the likes of Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santana. Twenty bucks is a small price to pay to see such legendary musicians!
Opening for The Wailers is local reggae band Kore Ionz. They fit well on a bill with The Wailers, singing out a message of love that doesn’t stray very far from their classic reggae roots.
Here’s Bob Marley and The Wailers playing “Stir It Up”:
