The Rating System

We use a full range decibel rating system as sometimes solid numbers aren’t quite appropriate. Listed below is the standard rating intentions with a Seattle Show Gal flair. Of course there is everything in-between the numbers listed, but here are some benchmarks.

The – TO SEE RATING -  is the recommendation for YOU to see the show.

This rating system is designed solely on performance aesthetics such as stage presence, presentation, and general performance quality. Among different genres of music, there is no accounting for taste. That being said, there are basic expectations that make a show entertaining. This rating system is designed around those attributes.

1      – Wipe  your butt with the money before you spend it on this show

2.5  – It was okay I guess

5     – This is the base rating. Based on the performance, the rating can move up or down.

7    – This is rating of honor and praise. This rating represents genre completeness. If the viewer is into this kind of music, they’ll be fully satisfied when they see this show.

7.5  – This rating represents cross genre appeal and an indubitably amazing show.

8     – 8/10 is the new 10/10. 8/10 represents genre perfection, cross genre perfection, and audience appeal that is viral. Anything above this rating is reserved for the shows that are so few and far between that the reviewer would want to rate it an 11/10 or a 12/10. Those ratings are impossible, so 8.1/10 – 10/10 are reserved for said shows.

10  – This rating represents the ultimate concert experience of a lifetime. Each reviewer has their own show that was their 10/10. Giving a To See rating of a 10/10 is asserting that whoever you are or  whatever kind of music you are into, this show would raise the bar for what an ultimate concert experience would be like for the viewer.

The – JUST CURIOUS RATING – focuses on the personal enjoyment of the reviewer in the context of the specific event.

Although being objective, there has to be allowances for when the reviewer asserts that something is awesome against all reason, or that something sucks without being objective. There are also times when the band might have been solid, but the evening went sideways for reasons that were out of the bands control i.e. sound, lighting, or the crowds response. If you follow the Just Curious Rating System, you will be in tune with the tastes of the reviewer.

1     – I would pay two times the price of the ticket to get the wasted time added back to my lifespan!
